In the wake of rising crimes and scams involving courier services across Pakistan, inDrive has joined hands with Lahore Police to dismantle a criminal network that impersonated its drivers to defraud customers.
Launched to retain user trust and ensure the safety of users' valuable belongings, the operation resulted in the arrest of four suspects, including the gang leader.
The surprising aspect is that the ringleader was a former ride-hailing franchise owner who misused driver records to bypass courier verification systems.
As per ProPakistani, most of the stolen items have been recovered and are being returned to their owners.
The raid was executed with the help of extensive surveillance and digital tracing, with inDrive’s cooperation providing crucial digital evidence for the arrests.
In response to a surge in such online courier scams, inDrive has implemented stricter ID checks, advanced fraud detection tools, and rapid safety response protocols. The company's internal investigation team mapped complaint patterns and froze accounts to facilitate the arrests.
Awais Saeed, inDrive's country head of Pakistan, stated the company is advancing its systems to counteract scams and is committed to protecting users.
Given that it's becoming increasingly complex to outdo scams driven by the meticulous use of data and sophisticated tech, inDrive is improving its safety framework by focusing on transparent onboarding and swift incident resolution.
