The users want to download iOS 18 but are not ready to spring for the developer beta. Earlier, Apple shared the iOS 18 public beta will be released in July.

For the last four years, the users saw the first public beta release at 10:10, 10:07, 10:43, and 10:00 am PT. Apple could always switch things up, but it’s around the corner.

When to expect iOS public beta

If the Cupertino-based tech giant unveils the first iOS 18 public beta this week, the most expected launch time for iOS 18 is 10 am PT on any day during the ongoing week.

This week users saw iOS 18 beta 3 arrive for developers which in recent years has been one week before the first public beta.

All signs refer to the first iOS 18 public beta released the week of July 15.

Apple unveiled the first iOS 18 beta for developers after the WWDC keynote. However, it is free for anyone to download, it’s not intended to be downloaded on your main iPhone.

However, users are not far away from a more stable beta release intended for the public. That typically arrives just after the third developer beta, five weeks after WWDC.

If Apple’s trend holds, that puts the iOS 18 public beta release during the week of July 15.

Gadinsider is here with the timeline Apple has been following for the past two years for rolling out iOS updates.  Apple releases iOS updates five weeks after the first developer beta.

  • iOS 17 public beta 1: July 12, 2023 (after the June 5 developer beta release)
  • iOS 16 public beta 1: July 11, 2022 (after the June 6 developer beta release)
  • iOS 15 public beta 1: June 30, 2021 (after the June 7 developer beta release)
  • iOS 14 public beta 1: July 9, 2020 (after the June 22 developer beta release)
  • iOS 13 public beta 1: June 24, 2019 (after the June 3 developer beta release)

There’s always a chance Apple could shake things up and do a four or six-week interval between the developer and public beta. The former would make for a July 8-10 launch and the latter would mean a July 22-24 release.
