Here’s what’s new in iOS beta 18.1
The new beta includes several new features which are designed to give a teaser of what Apple's version of on-device AI might look like.
Clean up in Photos
The most notable new feature is Clean Up in the Photos app. Apple revealed that this new image editing tool can identify and remove distracting objects from the background of a photo without altering the main subject. However, the feature seems similar to Google's recently launched "Magic Eraser" feature.
Notification summaries
Moreover, Apple has also introduced a new notification summaries feature for the iPhone that was previously available for Messages and Mail apps, it has now extended to all apps.
The app enables notifications to appear on the lock screen of the iPhone including the key details so one can get the idea of the notification at a glance.
The iOS 18 public beta isn’t available to a wider audience and only to developers, while anyone who registers with Apple’s developer’s website can download the beta for free. However, an iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max can experience Apple Intelligence features.
