The Pakistani government announced a major plan to use artificial intelligence (AI) to accelerate the country's development.
To investigate ways to integrate AI in a variety of fields, such as education, healthcare, agriculture, and governance, 12 special working groups made up of professionals from the public, private, and academic sectors are to be formed.
Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal stressed that artificial intelligence (AI) is now a strategic necessity for the advancement of the country rather than just a technical development.
The government has authorised the establishment of a National AI Fund, which will offer financial support to promising AI-driven projects and initiatives nationwide in an effort to foster innovation and get past financial obstacles.
A thorough mapping of Pakistan's AI talent and resources, including academic institutions, research facilities, and private businesses, will also be carried out.
This way it would be possible for the government to pinpoint its areas of expertise and match them with new development challenges and technological demands.
In order to bring together experts and talk about the future of AI in Pakistan, a National AI Workshop will also be held in cooperation with industry stakeholders.
This programme is a component of the government's larger plan for AI-driven national development, which also includes the Quantum Valley Pakistan project and the creation of nine Centres of Excellence in advanced technology.
The government hopes to boost economic growth, enhance public services, and improve the general standard of living for Pakistani citizens by investing in AI and encouraging innovation.
