Apple is radically changing its iPhone release strategy this year, moving away from their classic fall launch of four iPhones to the upcoming launch of iPhone models in spring.
With this revised calendar, Apple is altering the iPhone landscape and, more importantly, changing how and when you receive the new iPhone models.
The first big change kicks off in the next month. The iPhone 17 Air will hit the market. However, Apple users questions the new model that is it thinner and lighter than both last year's 14 and also the previous Plus version? While the Air has been designed to break new ground in Apple's appearance across iPhone models designed for performance in the thinnest form possible.
Moreover, the iPhone 17 Air will launch in the fall of 2025 and is expected to be the cheapest option of Apple's iPhone launches in the fall.
Additionally, the new iPhone models will not stop there. For the fall of 2026, Apple is planning what could be its most premium iPhone line ever, with iPhone 18 models that are the iPhone 18 Air, iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone 18 Fold.
Notably, this means that there will be no base model iPhone 18 in the fall, as Apple will be retaining the budget models for the spring of 2027, which will consist of the iPhone 18 and possibly the iPhone 18e.
This decision essentially means that, depending on the model that you typically purchase or plan to purchase, fall will be the season when Apple will launch high-end iPhone models to the market, and the base iPhone model will have a starting price of around $999. The rumoured price of the iPhone 18 Fold will be between $2,000 and $2,500.
