Tech giant Google announced a major investment in Pakistan's education sector, bringing smart schools and job training programmes to the capital city, Islamabad.
The initiative, discussed with Pakistan's Ministry of Education, will see 50 schools equipped with Google for Education technology, including AI-powered learning tools and collaboration software. This aims to boost student engagement and prepare them for a digital future.
Beyond the classrooms, Google is committed to empowering young Pakistanis. Their Google Career Certificates programme is offering scholarships, with a focus on women, to equip them with in-demand skills for the workforce. Over 44,500 scholarships were awarded last year, with another 45,000 planned for 2024.
This partnership isn't just about tech skills. The Google News Initiative, working with local partners, will also train young journalists, including women, to diversify newsrooms and strengthen access to information.
This investment in education and youth development signals Google's commitment to building a brighter future for Pakistan.
