As part of ongoing efforts to boost Pakistan's IT sector growth, the inauguration of the Islamabad IT Park will be observed on August 14 this year, said State Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja.
Besides announcing the Islamabad IT Park launch at the Islamabad Business Summit, she also disclosed that the government has a similar project up its sleeves for Karachi.
Under its broader initiative aimed at establishing IT parks across Pakistan, the government is reportedly utilising unused buildings, with plans to set up 250 employment facilitation centres countrywide to back up the IT industry, ProPakistani reported.
Warning that Pakistan might fall behind the speedy pace of transitioning from digital to artificial intelligence (AI) taking place globally, the minister also highlighted the importance of technology across agriculture, health, education, and commerce.
That being the case, adopting technological innovation is essential for Pakistan to survive economically and stand in line with global standards.
Even in the face of limited resources, the government appears adamant about elevating tech-driven exports to $25 billion, as Pakistan is also preparing to host a Digital Foreign Investment Summit, scheduled to be held from April 28 to 29, in partnership with Saudi Arabia.
