The Sindh government has introduced a new E-Challan system, which includes updated fines and demerit points for traffic violators in Karachi and the province.
This initiative, introduced through an amendment to the Twelfth Schedule through Section 121-A of the Motor Vehicles Ordinance, 1965, is intended to address reckless driving and increase road safety.
Sindh Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, said that the fines are aimed at, but not limited to, the offenses of overspeeding, signal breaking, overloading, and driving without a license.
He stated that "We're not trying to collect revenue, we're trying to save lives," referring to the stricter enforcement of traffic violations with E-Challans, digital monitoring, and public awareness campaigns.
