Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon has officially announced that the new e-challan system will begin on October 27 for traffic violations in Karachi with the aim of digitalising and reducing corruption.
IG Sindh stated that the “Safe City Program” and traffic police personnel are working collectively on programming and planning for this initiative.
The e-challan system in Karachi has been temporarily suspended until the new system is launched.
IG Sindh clarified that a committee has been formed, comprising representatives from SP, DSP, and CPL, to address complaints regarding e-ticketing. Any individual with a grievance related to a challan can submit their request to this committee, which will ensure redressal.
Memon added that while some dummy e-challans are being issued for testing purposes, they are not being sent to citizens. “Even if challans are not issued for a few weeks, it makes no significant difference,” he said.
Faceless e-challan payment system
- 50% discount on challan payment within 14 days
- Double penalty on payment after 21 days
- Driving licence suspension after three months of non-payment
- The Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) will be blocked after 6 months of non-payment.
Through this modern system, the traffic police aim to provide citizens with a transparent, fair, and effective law enforcement process.
