Price of high-speed diesel in Pakistan drops by Rs14 to settle at Rs265.65 per litre

In its latest fortnightly revision of petroleum product prices in the country, the government of Pakistan on Monday announced to keep petrol price unchanged at Rs263.45 per litre.

While the high-speed diesel (HSD) has seen a major price drop of Rs14 per litre to settle at Rs265.65 per litre, following recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) and the relevant ministries.

The updated petroleum prices are set to be effective from December 16 till December 31. As the HSD price is decreased, it will benefit citizens who travel by public transport and diesel-powered vehicles.

"The government of Pakistan has revised the prices of petroleum products based on recommendations of OGRA," the notification issued by the Ministry of Finance read.

Diesel is primarily used in heavy goods transport vehicles, trucks, buses, trains, and agricultural machinery such as tractors, tube wells, and threshers.

The consumption of high-speed diesel particularly contributes to the increased prices of vegetables and other food items.
