For lower and lower-middle income households, petrol is primarily used in motorcycles, rickshaws, and small cars, making it essential for basic functions such as daily commuting. HSD is fuel for rural transport, agriculture, trucks, buses, trains, tractors, and tube wells.
Economists view changes in HSD prices as inflationary since they influence the price of various crops and essential food items transported nationally.
