In a remarkable development in the vastly expanded sphere of generative artificial intelligence (genAI), Microsoft Bing has announced the launch of Bing Video Creator, an innovative AI tool designed to generate videos from text prompts. The tool is assisted by OpenAI's Sora model.

Once the tool is rolled out, the incorporation would mark the first time Sora's video generation capabilities will be available for free, following its accessibility for paid subscribers.

Bing Video Creator features

It's worth noting that the Bing Video Creator is currently not accessible on desktop, and video generation can take several hours, even in the “fast” mode designed to be quicker.

Users logged into a Microsoft account can create up to 10 video clips at no cost. After that, each video will require 100 Microsoft Rewards points. Users can earn these points through Bing searches or purchases at the Microsoft Store. For instance, users earn 5 points per PC search. A maximum of 150 points daily can be earned.

As of now, users can queue up to three 5-second videos at the same time, with no option to adjust the video length.

The tool generates videos in a vertical 9:16 aspect ratio, which is suitable for popular social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram. Nevertheless, Microsoft is said to have plans for introducing horizontal 9:16 uploads in the near future.
