Microsoft has quietly rolled out a dedicated Copilot app for Android users, providing an independent avenue to leverage the power of Copilot without relying on the Bing mobile app.

Feature-rich functionality of Copilot on Android

The Copilot app on Android mirrors the functionality of ChatGPT, offering users access to chatbot capabilities, image generation using DALL-E 3, and the ability to compose text for emails and documents.

Additionally, it grants complimentary access to OpenAI's latest GPT-4 model, a feature that typically incurs a fee for ChatGPT users.

Evolution from Bing Chat to standalone Copilot

This launch follows Microsoft's rebranding of Bing Chat to Copilot just over a month ago. Originally integrated into the Bing search engine, the Copilot app now stands as a more autonomous experience, residing on its dedicated domain at copilot.microsoft.com.

This evolution aligns with the rebranding of Bing Chat Enterprise to Copilot, emphasizing the move towards establishing Copilot as a standalone entity. While an iOS version is not yet available, the expansion to mobile platforms marks a strategic move in broadening the reach of the Copilot experience. Users on iOS devices can, in the interim, access Copilot features through the Bing app.
