Microsoft surprised everyone with the announcement of the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 at a secret event before Build 2024. These new laptops are powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus chipsets, which Microsoft claims are up to 58% faster than the MacBook Air M3.
The new laptops are part of Microsoft's "Copilot+ PCs" initiative, which is designed to bring artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to Windows 11. The company said that GPT-4o capability is coming to Copilot, and the new Surfaces will be the first to take advantage of these features.

The Surface Laptop 6 boasts an "80% faster" performance than the previous generation and an impressive "22 hours of local video playback" battery life. It can also support up to three 4K monitors, in addition to its own display. Users will have a choice of four colours and either a 13.8-inch or 15-inch screen.
The Surface Pro 10 features a first-ever 13-inch OLED display with HDR. Like the Surface Laptop 6, it's powered by the new Snapdragon processors and boasts the same AI-powered features. For example, a new feature called 'Recall' allows users to search for files using simple prompts. For instance, you can ask for "the powerpoint with a purple chart" to find a specific presentation.
Another new feature, 'Cocreator', uses AI to generate images based on user sketches. There's even integration with Xbox, so gamers can query Copilot for help with difficult sections of games.
