In a remarkable development in favour of the country's tech manufacturing sector, Airlink Communication Limited has announced that it will locally manufacture Acer laptops in Pakistan.

As part of a pilot phase, the company is initially planning to ship a batch of 10,000 units by November 2025 as part of a pilot phase to gauge market demand.

During a briefing with Topline Securities, Airlink indicated that if the pilot is successful, it would move forward to full-scale production, potentially assembling up to 10,000 laptops each month.

This massive extent of tech manufacturing in Pakistan is expected to generate approximately Rs4 billion annually and help reduce reliance on imported devices, lower costs, and create job opportunities in the tech sector.

A company spokesperson said this initiative is in line with the government’s “Made in Pakistan” policy, which seeks to grow local industry and enhance self-sufficiency in technological production.

Besides the Acer laptop making, Airlink is also expanding its electronics offerings, with plans for Pakistan’s first official Apple retail store and a Xiaomi outlet at Lahore’s Dolmen Mall.

The technology manufacturer is aiming to increase domestic production capacity for consumer electronics and digital devices in the coming years, suggesting a promising future for the local tech industry.
