The federal government is preparing to provide 700,000 Chromebooks to students across Pakistan, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan, to expand digital education and modernise learning tools among students in these areas.

During a ceremony in Islamabad on Friday, Chairman of the Prime Minister's Youth Programme Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan said that the initiative aims to strengthen digital learning in schools, colleges, and universities, besides providing access to online learning platforms, updated academic resources, and modern software to help students compete in both national and global environments.

"Providing students with digital tools is an important stride toward strengthening the educational system of Pakistan for the youth who will bear future economic burdens and challenges," he said.

Chromebooks provided by the Tameer e Insaniyat (TIF) Foundation Lahore will be provided in a phase-wise manner to ensure transparency and institutional preparedness.

A national monitoring mechanism will monitor device utilisation and outcome assessment in classroom and remote learning modes.

Khan elaborated that this initiative aims at bringing down the gap between the facilities of education available in the cities and those in the rural areas.
