A recent survey conducted by inDrive indicates that more Pakistanis used ride-hailing services during Ramadan, particularly for intercity travel prior to Eid-ul-Fitr. With families gearing up for the festive season, inDrive.

City to City witnessed an increase in bookings, which points towards the increasing demand for convenient and economical modes of transport.

Rising demand for convenient and affordable Eid travel through inDrive

As per the survey, travel behaviour changed during Ramadan. During the initial weeks, individuals primarily utilised ride-hailing for work and home trips. Towards the end, though, passengers increasingly booked intercity rides to meet their families. Shared rides also became more popular, accounting for 30% of overall bookings, which indicated a desire for affordable and social travel.

Country Lead of inDrive Pakistan Muhammad Awais said: “This Ramadan has shown a remarkable increase in travel as people prepare for Eid. Our data indicates that Pakistanis are choosing inDrive for its flexibility, safety, and affordability.”

Among the most well-liked routes were Lahore to Gujranwala with Rs3,300 averages, and Islamabad/Rawalpindi to Lahore for approximately Rs8,300. Trains from Gujranwala to Lahore and Faisalabad trips also experienced an increase in demand, going for around Rs3,000 and Rs5,200. The average intercity ride travelled 150 km and took 2.5 to 3 hours.

Furthermore, with most demand around Eid, fare bargaining was prevalent initially, but most passengers valued convenience and punctuality. "At inDrive, we understand how important these reunions are.
