The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) on Wednesday announced that parents will now get SMS upon the birth of a child, which will remind them to register for birth certificate.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Nadra stated: "Within 30 days of the birth of the child, first register it with the relevant Union Council (UC) and then get a B form from the Nadra office or use the Pak-ID app.

"Citizens can easily use Pak-ID mobile app for the ID-related services from the comfort of their home, without visiting any Nadra centre and standing in long queues for their turn."

"Pakistanis can visit official website of Nadra or contact at helpline number '1777', for more detailed information."

Last month, Nadra announced expansion of its services availability at more than 2,000 e-Sahulat franchises in Pakistan. "Citizens can now renew their Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) and replace their lost CNIC from an e-Sahulat franchise located near their home."
