Netflix is partnering with NASA to broadcast rocket launches, spacewalks, and views from the International Space Station.
Netflix announced the partnership on Monday in a blog post that introduced the NASA+ feed, described as something for everyone: from people who love anything space to people who just like to see our planet from 250 miles up in space.
Some of the promised content includes "jaw-dropping Earth views," a live ISS feed, and astronaut spacewalks "that will make your palms sweat."
The partnership aligns with NASA's goal to increase access to space exploration; “Our Space Act of 1958 fundamentally calls on us to share our story with as broad an audience as possible," said Rebecca Sirmons, NASA+ general manager.
"Everything we do comes down to inspiring a new generation to explore space, whether on a TV or mobile device."
The NASA+ stream will remain free and available through NASA's website and app, while Netflix users will have a half-curated experience through their subscriptions.
Moreover, the specific details of the deal were not revealed, but it is in line with Netflix's plans to expand its live offerings. In late 2024, the platform streamed two NFL games and a boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson.
