In a surprising development, it has emerged that a new software update for Sony's PS5 is going to offer a Welcome Hub while traditionally obtaining an assortment of new features and enhancements.

The Welcome Hub will allow PlayStation gamers to enrich their gaming experience via personalisation and customisation of a diversity of widgets. Among a plethora of widgets, one is about system storage and battery life for your connected accessories.

Other sorts of widgets include those that display a player's current online friends, and wishlist. According to Sony, it's a “reimagined version of the Explore Tab” which was exclusive to the US only, however, the Welcome Hub will roll out globally.

Sony has confirmed that Welcome Hub will be released anytime during the next few weeks, with the dissemination starting on September 13 in the US and reaching a wider user base by the end of the month.

Not only will the Welcome Hub update bring customisable widgets but it will also enable players to change the background, which users will be able to choose from their in-game screenshots or choose one of the pre-loaded options.

3D audio on PS5 Welcome Hub update

Having propelled the latest beta software update for PS5 the previous month, the update is starting to roll out today with the ability to create a personalised 3D audio profile.

The probable motivation behind the inclusion of this story could be to let players experience the 3D audio in a manner most suitable for them.
