Ninja Gaiden 4 is officially announced at the Xbox Developer Direct 2025, which is set to launch in fall 2025 and will be coming to Xbox, PC, and PS5. The new entry in the long-running franchise is being co-developed by Team Ninja along with PlatinumGames, the team behind action games like Bayonetta and Nier: Automata.

Moreover, it will be available via Game Pass.

In addition to the brand-new release, a remake of Ninja Gaiden II was also announced called Ninja Gaiden II Black. The game is available now on console, PC, and Game Pass.

Ninja Gaiden series protagonist Ryu Hayabusa is officially confirmed to be returning in the newly announced title. However, the upcoming game will feature a different lead, Yakumo.

According to PlatinumGames' producer and director Yuji Nakao, the decision to roll out a new protagonist was rooted in a requirement to make Ninja Gaiden 4 more accessible to newcomers.

Ninja Gaiden 4 will unveil some new traversal mechanics, letting players quickly move around with the help of wires and rails. Combat is promised to be as fast-paced and hectic as the prior entries in the Ninja Gaiden series.

Moreover, Team Ninja stated that many legacy abilities will be making a return, complementing an array of new unique movesets. However, in terms of difficulty, fans can expect a steep challenge on par with the rest of the franchise.
