Opera browser has just integrated Google's Gemini AI models into its existing Aria AI extension, making it even more powerful and interactive. Users with this update can access more up-to-date information and enjoy a more interactive experience.

Aria, released last year, is an AI assistant that can answer user questions, write code and perform various tasks. What sets Aria apart is its ability to choose the best AI model for a specific task, ensuring more accurate and relevant answers.

With the Gemini integration, Aria can now tap into Google's advanced language models, providing users with up-to-date information at high performance.

The Gemini family consists of several models of different sizes and capacities. From the smallest Gemini Nano, designed for mobile devices, to the most capable Gemini Ultra, which powers the Gemini chatbot, these models offer many possibilities.

Opera users can now take advantage of the mid-sized Gemini Pro 1.5 and Gemini Pro 1.5 Flash, which offers a balance between performance and capacity.

One of the interesting features of this integration is the ability to read aloud, powered by Google's text-to-audio AI models. Aria can now read her responses aloud in a conversational manner, similar to ChatGPT's Read Aloud feature. This makes it easier for users to consume information on the go or when they prefer a more auditory experience.

This isn't the first time Opera has collaborated with Google's AI models. In April, Aria added an image creation feature using Google's Imagen 2 model, allowing users to create images directly from the Opera browser. This integration demonstrates Opera's commitment to utilising the power of AI to enhance its users' experience.
