In line with Pakistan's ambitions to become a digitally empowered nation, the country has begun talks with Saudi Arabia to establish a "Digital Corridor similar to CPEC," aimed at connecting both nations with China and Central Asia while enhancing bilateral relations through advanced technologies, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital infrastructure.

The corridor in question is also expected to position Pakistan as a regional tech hub.

According to Phoneworld, both countries are also exploring ways to align their initiatives with existing projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework.

In a meeting between Pakistan’s State Minister for IT Shaza Fatima Khawaja and Saudi Arabia’s Minister for Communications and IT Eng Abdullah Al-Swaha, Pakistan approved a Rs4.8 billion Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) project to train over 7,000 Pakistani youths in semiconductor technologies.

Khawaja expressed Pakistan's full support for Saudi Arabia’s National Semiconductor Hub (NSH), considering it a gateway to regional tech leadership.

Both sides agreed to foster cooperation in AI, computing, and cross-border digital integration, with Saudi Arabia showing interest in backing Pakistan’s global connectivity efforts through the Pakistan Digital Corridor initiative.

The ministers from both countries also discussed partnership opportunities under Saudi Arabia’s National Technology Development Program (NTDP) in order to connect private tech firms from both countries.
