Pakistan has launched its first Women’s Software Technology Park in Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), a move in line with the country's strides towards boosting Pakistan’s IT exports with women's inclusion in the IT sector.

The Muzaffarabad IT park is expected to empower female IT professionals, freelancers, and entrepreneurs while driving the region’s digital growth.

The facility, located at Fatima Jinnah Women’s Postgraduate College, was inaugurated by Special Communications Organisation (SCO) Director Umar Ahmed Shah.

The event was attended by senior officials, including AJK Prime Minister’s Coordinator Asma Andrabi, Secretary IT Rashid Hanif, academic leaders, and students.

The centre offers women a secure and modern workplace with uninterrupted power, high-speed internet, and advanced training resources. It is designed to support women-led startups, create job opportunities, and build technical expertise across the region.

Shah highlighted that in the past 20 months, SCO has set up 17 technology parks and 76 freelancing hubs in AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan, generating more than 7,000 jobs and supporting 1,500 freelancers. By the end of the month, this network is expected to grow to 100 centres.

The IT park in question is the eighth in AJK, being hailed as a notable accomplishment towards addressing the digital divide by encouraging female entrepreneurship.
