Pakistan is moving closer to launching Starlink satellite internet services, which are expected to roll out in the country by November 2025, according to Federal IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja.

Notably, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, recently visited the SpaceX headquarters in Los Angeles with the Consul General of Pakistan in Los Angeles, Asim Ali Khan, among other consulate officials.

The Pakistani delegation met with high-level Starlink executives, the Vice President of Global Business Operations and the Director of Global Business Development, and received a briefing on how the Starlink satellite internet service could facilitate Pakistan’s digital evolution by increasing broadband access in various parts of the country.

The discussions emphasised connecting rural communities and focusing on better internet infrastructure for Pakistan’s burgeoning freelance and tech sectors.

Despite being a top freelancing country, Pakistan grapples with the problem of internet access across its rural areas.

Ambassador Sheikh mentioned he was hopeful future collaborations could emerge in space, connectivity and innovation. "We are committed to supporting innovation-led development, cooperating with international partners," he said.

Earlier in March, the government authorised the temporary registration of Starlink in Pakistan. Once the licensing and registration process is finalised, installations will begin, and it will be allowed to operate at full capability.
