Shortly after the country underwent a widespread internet outage, Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) brought to light its take on the reported damage to an undersea internet cable, which disrupted internet services nationwide late on Thursday.
In a notification issued on Friday, the renowned telecom and internet provider acknowledged disruptions in its internet services across Pakistan while apologising for the inconvenience triggered by the connectivity discord.
Given the potential damage to an international undersea cable, identified as AAE-1 located near Qatar, users may encounter issues like slow browsing issues, read the circular issued by PTCL.
"Teams are working diligently to resolve the matter as soon as possible," the PTCL statement added.
A similar warning was also conveyed by the telecom regulatory authority, noting that owing to the submarine cable fault, mobile broadband and Wi-Fi-based internet users might suffer from sluggish internet.
PTA assured the internet cable fault is being thoroughly examined and fixed by concerned authorities.
