Pakistan Navy on Tuesday announced that it is facilitating a Pakistan–China Joint Oceanographic Cruise that is being conducted by the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) in partnership with China’s Second Institute of Oceanography (SIO).
Pakistan Navy Public Relations (PR) Directorate General (DG), in a press release, said that PNS BEHR MASAH has been positioned in support of this scientific mission, underscoring Navy's commitment to encourage maritime awareness and assist marine scientific research in the country.
The Joint Oceanographic Cruise shows a significant partnership between Pakistan and China, which is aimed at improving the understanding of the marine environment in Pakistani waters.
Research outcomes are likely to increase awareness of coastal and offshore marine dynamics, making better assessments of environmental patterns and supporting informed maritime planning and policy making.
According to the officials, this Pakistan–China Joint Oceanographic Cruise shows a continued partnership between the two countries and contributes to a wider regional understanding of oceanographic conditions in the North Arabian Sea.
