Pakistan, Qatar vow to deepen cooperation in IT, cybersecurity

Pakistan and Qatar expressed mutual interest in deepening collaborations in information technology (IT), startups, and cybersecurity. 

The vision was co-shared in a meeting between Minister of IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and Qatar's Ambassador to Pakistan, Ali Mubarak Ali Essa Al-Khater, on Tuesday. 

The IT minister underlined the strong ties between the two countries and also reflected on key areas that possess the potential to drive shared growth in IT and telecommunications. 

During the meeting, Khawaja sought the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between institutions while calling for collective efforts by well-established authorities in the landscape of IT in both countries.

On the sidelines of discussing common technological grounds for growth and exchange of students and startups for cemented bilateral relations, she urged Qatar to ease the process of fetching visas for Pakistan, an essential prerequisite for Pakistanis penetrating the Qatari markets.  

Responding to the suggestions presented by Khawaja, Al-Khater assured Pakistan of the Gulf nation's full support for uplifting the IT and telecom sectors' progress.
