Pakistan is getting closer to the launch of 5G technology, as the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has hired a consultant to guide the auction process. On November 5, the PTA signed a contract with National Economic Research Associates Inc. (NERA), a global consulting firm based in the United States.

NERA will help design the spectrum release for 5G, paving the way for faster mobile broadband services in the country.

The government has already started consulting with stakeholders to ensure the process is transparent and effective.

NERA, one of the leading firms in the field accepted the contract after offering the lowest financial bid of $750,000 and being ranked among the top two for technical expertise.

An experience the firm has in terms of managing spectrum auctions around the world is bound to see Pakistan advance its 5G plans effectively. Yet, the PTA aims to complete the auction process by April 2025.
