Capital Smart Motors (CSM) on Sunday announced the launch of its first-ever New Energy Vehicle (NEV) Completely Knocked Down (CKD) production plant, which will manufacture and assemble vehicles in Pakistan.

Taking to Instagram, the company said: "We proudly step into the manufacturing phase! Phase 1 marks our takeover of a local facility for interim production, while Phase 2 begins with the groundbreaking of our very own state-of-the-art CKD manufacturing plant."

CSM is a new automotive company in Pakistan that has launched four Chinese electric vehicle (EV) brands which include Riddara, Zeekr, Forthing, and JMEV.

"Here’s to innovation, growth, and shaping the future of Pakistan’s automotive industry while supporting the Government’s initiatives to combat carbon emissions!," added the company.

It should be noted that CSM had been operating through Completely Built-Up (CBU) imports. The company aims to expand its operations, along with gearing up to begin local assembly of its models to cut costs, to stay competitive in the market.

Recently, CSM launched the Zeekr 7X in Pakistan, marking a new era for the country's EV market. The Zeekr 7X is characterised by an experience that it's a luxury lounge rather than a conventional SUV.
