Pakistan is gearing up to formalise its presence in the global gaming area with the development of its first-ever National E-Sports policy and the establishment of a dedicated E-Sports Federation, officially confirmed on Tuesday.
The policy is designed to help professional players, game developers, and digital innovators and to improve digital skills and innovation-led jobs across provinces.
Pakistan's first National E-Sports policy
The announcement was made by Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan during a ceremony in Islamabad.
As he noted, about sixty million Pakistanis are involved in e-sports, either directly or indirectly, highlighting the gaming industry's potential in the country.
The plan was initiated back in June 2025, when a meeting chaired by Federal Minister for IT & Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja and PMYP chairman laid the foundation for Pakistan's National E-Sports policy.
Once established, the E-Sports policy is expected to establish an institutional framework for tournament regulation, player health, coaching, and collaboration at an international level and to virtually level up Pakistan's gaming framework.
