Kinetic Games has announced that its popular co-op horror title Phasmophobia is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, targeting a 2026 release. Originally launched for PC in September 2020, Phasmophobia allows teams of up to four players to investigate haunted locations, gather evidence, and identify ghosts while managing their characters’ sanity.
The game later expanded to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in October 2024 and has since sold over 25 million copies worldwide, making it one of the biggest horror games of the 2020s.
The announcement was made at The Game Awards 2025, and Kinetic confirmed that the Switch 2 port will be a digital-only release, likely priced at $19.99 on the Nintendo eShop.
While no gameplay footage was shown during the ceremony, Kinetic has shared the first Phasmophobia Switch 2 screenshots, suggesting the game will run smoothly on Nintendo’s hybrid console without major graphical compromises.
A good indication of the potential performance of the current console performance, such as 60 frames per second at 1080p on Xbox Series S, offers an encouraging benchmark for what Switch 2 players might expect.
Kinetic also observed that Phasmophobia is still in early access, and the full release of 1.0 would be in the year 2026. It provided assurance that everything coming up during 2025 was included in the Switch 2 version.
Whether the 1.0 update is ahead of the Switch 2 release or the other way round isn't clear, with both set to be dropping in 2026.
The launch of Phasmophobia on Switch 2 adds to the growing library of cooperative and survival horror games available on the platform.
Other upcoming releases for Switch 2 that made an appearance during The Game Awards 2025 include South of Midnight, Orbitals, Pragmata, and Resident Evil Requiem, proving that Nintendo's latest console is shaping up to be a hub for both multiplayer action and horror experiences.
