Niantic has announced a new Pokémon GO event, “Tales of Transformation,” set to run from September 23 to September 27, which will reveal bonuses for the event along with other details.
The event will mark the debut of Dudunsparce, a Gen 9 evolution of Dunsparce, and bring multiple bonuses and activities for trainers.
New Pokémon: Dudunsparce
Dudunsparce, first seen in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, evolves from Dunsparce by spending 50 Dunsparce Candy. To add to the excitement, the Pokémon has a long history dating back to Gen 2 Gold and Silver, when Dunsparce stood alone without an evolution for years. Interestingly, professional players can add it to their collection.
Event bonuses and wild encounters
Trainers can look forward to
- 2× Candy for catching Pokémon
- 2× XP for evolving Pokémon
- Higher chances of finding Shiny Dunsparce and Shiny Ditto
The encounters in the wild appear to skew toward Normal-type Pokémon, which will include Sentret, Dunsparce, Buneary, and Audino. Ditto will have different forms in the wild as well, but that will also remain the same after the event.
Paid timed research and special items
Trainers can purchase Timed Research for $1.99, which will give them 5,000 XP, two Lucky Eggs and Dunsparce encounters. Furthermore, a Dudunsparce Onesie avatar item will be in the in-game shop.
Field Research and Collection Challenges
Field Research tasks will be event-themed and will provide XP, items, and Pokémon encounters like Miltank, Spinda, and Dunsparce. Collection challenges will be given to trainers with a reward of XP, a Lure Module, and Dunsparce encounters after completion.
Ultra Ticket Box
Niantic will sell a $1.99 Ultra Ticket Box via the Pokémon GO Web Store, which includes an event ticket and five bonus Ultra Balls.
