As Malaysia strives to increase the adoption of electric and hybrid vehicles, renowned car company Proton unveiled its first-ever electric vehicle (EV) on Monday at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre in Kuala Lumpur.
While cars produced by BYD and Elon Musk's Tesla are already available in Malaysia, the Malaysian government wants EVs to make up 20% of new vehicle sales by 2030.
It should be noted that Malaysia reportedly observed a 112% rise in the sales of battery EVs in the first half of 2024.
