PTA and FIA crack down on illegal SIM sellers in Lahore

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) #and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle, have launched a decisive crackdown on illegal SIM sales in Lahore. Four consecutive raids in Lahore yielded significant's results, confiscating suspected devices and,arresting key individuals.

The crackdown on illegal SIM issuance would ensure a safer environment for telecommunication in Pakistan.

Illegal SIM issuance jeopardises security by compromising national security and facilitating crimes. The PTA's proactive measures aim to eliminate this menace. Successful raids, during the past in Khairpur and Lahore, have shown PTA's seriousness regarding this issue.

The PTA raids took place at various points in Lahore, including two telecom franchises located on Ferozepur Road and Johar Town. It produced good evidence as the FIA seized 7 suspected BVS devices, 3 mobile phones, 50 suspicious SIMs, and one laptop.

A key gang member responsible for collecting fingerprints was held along with four other franchise managers, a Zong Business Development Officer and a Direct Sales Officer (DSO).

PTA continues to battle against illegal SIM sales. The Authority continues to vigorously work against the issuance of SIMs illegally so that the telecom environment remains secure and regulated in Pakistan, saving Pakistani citizens from potential security threats.
