
Pertaining to the registration and facilitation processes of VPNs in the country, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) held a consultation session at its headquarters.
The session was attended by the CEO of the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), the Chairman of the Pakistan Software Houses Association (Pasha), the CEO of the Pakistan Freelancers Association (PAFLA), and representatives from the Ministry of IT and Telecom (MoIT), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), and State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
The telecom regulatory body underscored its commitment to ensuring legitimate VPN use in the country, setting the ground for data security and seamless internet access.

By subsiding notorious elements leveraging illicit VPNs, PTA aims to keep the realm acquired by software houses, BPO firms, banks, embassies, and freelancers.
During the consultation session, the stakeholders tabled methods to simplify the hectic process of VPN registration.
P@sha seeks more time for unregistered VPNs
Measures taken by PTA to improve the process were praised by the Pasha, but the association sought additional time for VPN registration and consultation on unregistered VPNs so that the software industry's operations remain intact.
