The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has released an important alert for citizens, in which the authority urged them to keep their Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) updated to ensure uninterrupted mobile phone services.
On its Facebook post, the telecom authority said: "Users need to ensure that their SIM cards are registered with a valid CNIC. SIM cards linked to expired or canceled CNICs are at risk of being blocked, which could disrupt mobile services.
"SIM cards registered under the names of deceased individuals may lead to legal action. Users are advised to update their CNICs immediately to avoid any disruption in service. Failure to renew the CNIC may result in the blocking of the SIM card, significantly affecting communication," said PTA.
The PTA has instructed Pakistani to verify their information with the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) to ensure that their records are accurate. This initiative underscores PTA's steadfast commitment to safeguarding consumer interests while promoting a secure, compliant, and reliable telecom ecosystem nationwide.
Pakistanis are advised to take prompt action to update their CNIC details and avoid service interruptions. The authority reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a safe and dependable telecom network across the country.
