The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Saturday notified that ad hoc bandwidth had been arranged and added to the system to address the degradation of internet services due to a fault in the Asia-Africa-Europe-1 (AAE-1) submarine cable on January 2, 2025.
Notably, now there is no degradation of internet services across Pakistan. Users can easily perform their tasks, as there will be a stable connection.
"The PTA actively overseeing the restoration efforts for the AAE-1 submarine cable and is committed to ensuring that all services remain stable during this period," the PTA statement notified.
Earlier on Thursday, internet services across Pakistan slowed significantly due to delays in rerouting traffic following a fault in the AAE-1 submarine cable near Qatar.
This fault resulted in a bandwidth reduction of nearly one terabit per second, with rerouting efforts delayed for 36 hours, causing widespread connectivity issues.
The PTA in its previous statement emphasised the urgent requirement for upgraded infrastructure to enhance internet speeds.
