In an effort to ensure compliance with the country's national regulations, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has kicked off issuing licences to Virtual Private Network (VPN) service providers under the reintroduced Class Value Added Services (CVAS-Data) licensing framework.

The telecom giant has restarted Pakistan's VPN licensing in order to enhance the provision of secure and compliant VPN services across Pakistan while adhering to national regulations and data security standards.

As part of this initiative, the PTA has issued Class Licences to several companies, including Alpha 3 Cubic (Pvt.) Ltd (Steer Lucid), Zettabyte (Pvt.) Ltd (Crest VPN), Nexilium Tech (SMC-Pvt.) Ltd (Kestrel VPN), UKI Conic Solutions (SMC-Pvt.) Ltd (QuiXure VPN), and Vision Tech 360 (Pvt.) Ltd (Kryptonyme VPN).

These licensed entities are permitted to provide VPN services to individuals and organisations for legitimate purposes.

Users can now easily access VPN services directly from these authorised providers, eliminating the need for separate VPN registration with the PTA for their IP addresses or mobile numbers.

This development is designed to facilitate regulatory compliance, enhance user convenience, and improve cybersecurity within Pakistan’s digital landscape.

By simplifying access to VPN services, the PTA aims to improve the overall integrity and security of internet usage across Pakistan, making sure that users navigate the digital space in a secure and lawful manner.
