The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Tuesday shared the result of its Quality of Service (QoS) audit of fixed-line broadband services within 34 significant cities in Pakistan, including Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJ&K) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), in the 3rd quarter of 2025.

According to the benchmarks, the survey was conducted to measure broadband performance of Broadband Service Provider (BSP) networks that allows subscribers to receive reliable and quality broadband across all telecommunications services.

The PTA’s QoS study reported that on average the BSPs met the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for important QoS benchmarks, including Network Availability (Local & Core), Jitter and Network Latency (Local and International).

In addition to this result, the telecom regulator also highlighted some challenges faced by BSPs in various sectors of performance, mentioning that the high use of bandwidth during peak times resulted in network congestion and slower speeds, which affected the subscribers’ experience accessing the internet.

The PTA also experienced increased latency on both local and international routes, pointing towards routing and backbone inefficiencies from some specific BSPs.

In response, PTA has directed operators to implement corrective measures aimed at improving service quality and network reliability. The detailed survey results for Q3 2025 are available on PTA’s official website.
