The Punjab Traffic Police has implemented a new system that will guarantee the integrity of the driving licence issuance procedure, marking a major step towards fostering accountability and transparency in the process.

Notably, the new system will include cameras at driving licence testing locations that are always in operation, and no licence will be granted without adequate video evidence, according to DIG Traffic Waqas Nazir.

Additionally, the video backup system has been improved, and now the footage is directly connected to the Safe Cities data centre and stored for eternity.

It is anticipated that this action will end corruption in the licensing procedure, guaranteeing that only drivers who meet the requirements are granted licences.

This month, a new artificial intelligence system will be introduced to oversee driving tests in an effort to increase transparency even more.

It will be simpler to identify qualified drivers because cars with cameras and sensors will automatically identify errors made during the test.

It is anticipated that Punjab's road safety will be significantly impacted by the new system.

The Punjab Traffic Police wants to lower the number of accidents on the roads by making sure that only licensed drivers are qualified.

Moreover, the system will promote accountability and transparency in the licensing process by making it simpler to take action against unlicensed and unqualified individuals.
