The Punjab government has approved a major new project to launch the province’s first-ever digital profiling system, a step aimed at improving early threat detection and helping law enforcement prevent terrorism, organised crime, and cyberattacks.

Reportedly, the Punjab digital profiling system, established at a project cost of Rs334 million, will roll out in two phases. The first phase has been allocated Rs204 million, while Rs130 million will be earmarked to complete the second phase.

After both phases are completed, the system will be fully operational and integrated with security departments.

The digital profiling system will represent a central feature of the Punjab Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Center, which is the hub for coordinating and analyzing security data across the province.

Officials said the platform would leverage real-time video analytics, machine learning models, and automated data processing to collect and assess information about high-risk individuals, organisations, and foreign entities.

In addition, it will gather open-source intelligence and global datasets on geopolitical events, regional conflicts, and emerging cyber threats.

Notably, Punjab authorities believe the new system will help detect suspicious patterns or activities faster, allowing security agencies to respond more efficiently to potential risks. It is also expected to enhance Punjab’s ability to combat cybercrime, financial fraud, and digital propaganda networks.
