The Punjab government on Thursday announced that it is considering a digital examination system across all provincial education boards.
Reportedly, a detailed briefing and training regarding the decision will be provided by Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore on December 13, 2025.
All Punjab boards have been directed to ensure their presence in this regard as part of the province's plan to implement a uniform digital examination system.
Task Force Committee for Boards Chairman Muzammil Mahmood said that the government is taking “important digital steps” aimed at improving the credibility of examinations.
He added that the shift to digital processes would ensure enhanced transparency, accuracy, and public trust in the entire system.
BISE Lahore Spokesperson Tahir Javed said system analysts and computer programmers from all boards have been instructed to take part in the training session to outline the technical requirements needed for the shift away from traditional paper-based exams.
The proposed digital system is expected to increase transparency, minimise malpractice, and streamline administrative processes.
Reportedly, one of the options on the table is the possible introduction of secure, technology-enabled "e-sheets".
These digitally controlled documents may include specific security codes, QR-based verification, and embedded digital watermarks to guard against tampering and forgery.
