Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif plans to launch a new electric bus service in Mianwali on 15 September, marking a significant step towards modernising public transport in underserved areas.
"Electro Green Buses" will be introduced on routes that travel through Daud Khel, Bin Hafiz Ji, and Wan Bhachran, and the Punjab Transport Company will run the service.
The project intends to fill in long-standing infrastructure gaps in the area by offering dependable, reasonably priced, and environmentally friendly public transportation.
Modern conveniences like WiFi, air conditioning, automated ticketing, and accommodations for those with disabilities will be included in the buses, with the fare being Rs20.
This project is a component of a broader initiative to improve Punjab's public transit system.
The arrival of 100 more electric buses from Yantai Port, China, was announced by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz last month.
These buses will be used in the districts of Okara, Nankana Sahib, Muzaffargarh, Vehari, Pakpattan, and Dera Ghazi Khan.
The provincial government is giving priority to modern and sustainable transport options to raise the standard of living for its residents.
