Realme, the Chinese electronics brand, is gearing up for the launch of a new smartphone in India, marked by a teaser on social media platforms. While the exact details and launch date remain unconfirmed, speculation points to the potential release of the Realme 12 Pro+.

Realme to enhance optical zoom capabilities

The teaser post on social media, featuring the tagline "No Periscope. No Flagship," hints at the inclusion of enhanced optical zoom capabilities. The accompanying poster image showcases the rear portion of the device with a distinctive ring, creating anticipation among smartphone enthusiasts.

According to tipster Abhishek Yadav, the Realme 12 Pro+ is expected to launch either by the end of January or in February of the upcoming year.

Rumoured to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 series chipset, specifically the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC, the smartphone aims to deliver a robust performance.

Periscope camera on mid-range pricing

Among the anticipated specifications, the Realme 12 Pro+ is said to feature a 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64B periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. 

Positioned in the mid-range smartphone segment, the expected price is around CNY 2,000 (approximately Rs. 23,000). The launch might coincide with the introduction of the Realme 12 and Realme 12 Pro.

The Realme 11 Pro+ made its debut in India in June with an initial price tag of Rs. 27,999. Running on Android 13-based Realme UI 4.0 custom skin and housing a 5,000mAh battery, it featured a notable 200-megapixel triple rear camera setup and a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 SoC.
