Roblox, the popular online gaming platform, has officially ended support for versions of the game running on Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 hardware.
This move affected a small subset of Roblox players who were still using older operating systems.
Since its launch in 2006, Roblox has grown exponentially, boasting over 100 million players worldwide.
The gaming platform has expanded to various devices, including iOS, Android, and PlayStation consoles, as well as a VR version for the Meta Quest 2 and Quest Pro.
Roblox will no longer support Windows 7, 8.1, and 8
Recently, a Reddit post confirmed that support for Windows 7 has been sunsetted, joining the previously discontinued Windows 8 version.
The end of Windows 7 support was officially announced on January 16.
However, this move is consistent with industry trends, as many games have begun to discontinue support for outdated Windows versions.
Microsoft itself ended updates for Windows 7 in 2022, and Rockstar Games shuttered the Rockstar Games Launcher on Windows 7 in early 2024.
In other news, Roblox has continued to expand its reach through collaborations with major brands and franchises like One Piece, My Hero Academia, and Payday.
