Samsung is apparently planning to redesign its flagship Galaxy S series next year, marking a major shift from its current lineup.

The tech giant might drop the standard and Plus models in favour of the Galaxy S26 Pro, Galaxy S26 Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra, according to sources citing an internal One UI 8 build.

According to Android Authority, this strategic change may indicate a premium focus for Samsung's flagship series, with the Pro model having better internals and costing more.

It is thought that the Galaxy S26 Pro, Galaxy S26 Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra are represented by the codenames M1, M2, and M3, respectively.

The Galaxy S25 Edge was introduced in May of this year as a mid-range alternative to the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy S25+ models, and its sales performance may have influenced the decision to rebrand and reposition the lineup.

The Korea-based tech giant may be attempting to reposition its flagship series with a premium focus by switching the 'Plus' model for the Edge variant and replacing the standard model with a 'Pro' variant, suggesting a feature and price shuffle.

According to industry sources, this redesign may lead to a major shift in the Galaxy S series, emphasising high-end features and costs.

Samsung's daring move is anticipated to have a big impact on the industry as the smartphone market develops further.
