Schools across Punjab to observe winter vacations from Dec 22

The Punjab Education Department on Thursday issued a notification, which revealed that winter vacations for schools and colleges across the province will be observed from December 22 to January 10.

The education department said: "All government and private schools in Punjab will reopen from January 11, marking the resumption of regular classes."

Officials stated that winter holidays for all educational institutions across Punjab is part of the annual schedule to give students and staff a break during the colder months.

Meanwhile, Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat announced a major change in the examination timetable for matriculation and intermediate students. 

The minister further added that both matric and intermediate exams will take place after Eid-ul-Fitr, marking a shift from the previous schedule.

Matric exams are expected to start around March 24, 2026, while intermediate papers will follow afterward. 

The revised timetable aims to give students with a comfortable preparation period, preventing academic pressure during the holy month.
