In the wake of rising traffic violations by government officials incurred while using government vehicles, the Sindh government has directed all government officials to pay their challans from their personal pockets.

This decision follows a notable spike in traffic violations by government officials since the implementation of the e-challan system in Karachi.

In a formal directive issued to various departments, including the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the government stressed the need for accountability among its employees.

The directive specified that officials must pay fines for offences such as failing to wear seatbelts, using mobile phones while driving, and running red lights from their own pockets.

The policy aims to minimise the misuse of government vehicles and promote adherence to traffic laws.

As reported by Geo TV, the intention behind this initiative is to create a culture of responsibility and discipline within government employees.

By holding officials financially accountable for traffic infractions they themselves committed, the government hopes to reduce such infractions and enhance public trust in government officials' compliance with the law.
