The Sindh government has launched over 3,000 digital skills scholarships in partnership with Google and Tech Valley Pakistan, as the country gears up to equip youth with skillsets needed to compete globally.
The scholarships, announced by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, will be offered exclusively at public sector universities in the Sindh province.
It's worth mentioning that upon successful completion, candidates will be conferred with Google Career Certificates in high-demand fields including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cybersecurity, Digital Marketing, IT Automation, and Project Management.
"This partnership is a testament to our vision of transforming Sindh into a hub of innovation and skill development," said the Sindh CM, adding that the scholarships' 30% seats will be reserved for female students to foster equal gender participation.
These globally recognised certifications, developed by Google experts, will allow aspiring participants to complete courses in as little as three to six months for which no degree is required.
It was also brought to light that previous batches have stepped into the respective fields, securing lucrative opportunities at renowned IT firms with salaries reportedly reaching over Rs1 million per month.
One such example from previous cohorts is Leena Kumari, a student from the University of Sindh, Jamshoro, who completed the Google AI Essentials course and joined Evolution. Her success story was even featured by Google.
